Join Us! Songs for a Cause Nov. 15 2015 in Katonah NY

November 10, 2015 Beth Blatt
Beth Blatt and Elizabeth Kemler

Beth Blatt and Elizabeth Kemler

We are producing our 2nd “Songs for a Cause” charity music event at the Katonah Village Library on November 15th, 2015. The show benefits Girls Inc. Westchester, inspiring all girls to be strong, smart and bold. Singer-songwriters are Katonah-based Christina Martino; the duo Danny and Caroline, of Bedford Hills; and Songs for a Cause co-founders (and Hope Sings folk) Elizabeth Kemler and Beth Blatt

Songs for a Cause music events combine the power and pleasure of performances by talented musicians with the purpose of “doing good.” These Westchester County (NY) - centric shows benefit local charities and feature local singer-songwriters, both established and emerging. A special feature of Songs for a Cause are the original songs written expressly for the evening by the artists, inspired by success stories from the charity.

Girls Inc. Westchester provides comprehensive life skills programming, on financial literacy, college and career prep, healthy relationships, and many more essential topics, as well. Girls Inc. Westchester programs are run by trained staff, during and after school, in girl only/girl empowering environments in many Westchester County communities. For Girls Inc. girls, the experience is often life changing.

The first Songs for a Cause event was held June 28th, 2015 at the Katonah Library in support o Hour Children, which helps incarcerated women - many of them at Bedford Hills Correctional - rebuild healthy lives and families.

Johanna Flores of Hour Children said the event, "...was beyond beautiful. I don't remember when music so touched my life...we can't thank all of you enough for bringing awareness not only with a song but bringing people together to learn about our organization."

Songs for a Cause is a Westchester-based project of Hope Sings, the for-benefit music organization whose mission is to harness the power of story and song to support charities that focus on women and children. Hope Sings' efforts include the anthem for UN Women, the first-ever anthem created for a UN agency; the recording featured 25+ international artists and has generated almost 500K hits on You Tube.
